Second Chance, Chapter One. by ~Imatak:iconImatak:

Chapter 1

Malos and Syn. Two seperate homunculi created to serve one purpose.
Their story is a long and tragic one. Created by Ara to kill, they were the fruits of years of research, trial and error. They were the perfect soldiers.
They were, however, not human.
They were "homunculi", or "artificial life". Not life given by a god, but life given by man.
Given, not created.
Giving life and creating life are two very different things. To create life is the natural way to share life. It's how mankind has survived all of these years.
Giving life is the process of ripping away life from another human being and transferring it into an artificial, man-made shell. It's not natural. It defies all laws of human life.
Malos and Syn were given life. Their life was not created; their life was stolen from someone else.
This is their story...

Malos was the first and only one to leave. He treaded through the lake outside of Ara's mansion, determined to escape the inferno behind him.
It was windy. It was cold. Malos was wearing nothing but cloth panrts and a shirt. Nothing to protect himself from the harsh winter conditions.
He swam. He swam as fast and as far away as he could through the icy water, both to get out of the water and to escape the nightmare behind him.
He had to get away.

Malos wasn't always Malos. He used to be human; just as human as you and me. To his knowledge, he didn't have a name. He was an orphan. No one cared for him; no one even took a second glance at him or took pity in him.
He was given a second chance atr life by a man who called himself Ara. Or, at least he thought he was given a second chance at life.
He was to be used in an... experiment. It would both change the world, and his life. He could start life anew.
He could be anything he wanted to be. He could be famous. He wouldn't be ignored. He'd be given life. New life.
He'd be given a second chance.

The house was burning. Syn could feel it. He awoke, groggy, from his two-day nap, and surveyed his surroundings.
The first thing he noticed was that the house was, indeed, on fire. The second: his cage was open. The third: Malos was gone.
His survival instincts kicked in. He knew the surroundings well: he was in a glass chamber, which contained his "cage", which Ara so fondly coined it. However, the glass was shattered. The cage... open.
He noticed blood on the shattered glass. Lots of it, in fact. He bent over, sniffed it, and immediately knew who it was from. Malos. Despite the situation he was in, he laughed. Malos was always getting himself hurt, ever since he was given life.
But why had he tried to escape? Malos, like Syn, was given a second chance at life. Why would he run away from that?

Like Malos, Syn was also used. However, he thought differently of Ara. Ara had saved his life. However, in exchange, Syn forgot everything about himself: His memories, his family, even his former name. When he tried to draw upon his memories, all he'd draw upon was a big blank.
Ara had said his former life was a tragic one. Full of sadness, suffering... pain... Ara promised to heal Syn's suffering. He promised Syn a second chance at life.
He was given a new shell for his now-manipulated soul to reside in. Much like Malos, he didn't remember his former shell. He was thankful for the one he had right now. It was genetically engineered to be superior to other shells. It was perfect. He could always rely on it if he ever got into a fight.
And, if the need arose, he could always use the Rune which was infused in his soul. But only under the most dire conditions. Same as Malos.

Malos barely made it to the ridge of the lake. He sat, drenched with ice and water, gasping for breath. He shivered under the frosty air that surrounded him.
The sun was just now rising. He had never seen the sun before, though, so he was surprised he knew what the sun was. He had been cooped up in that mansion all of his life, from what he can remember. He had never seen the outside world.
But now wasn't the time to sightsee. He had to get away, fast, before the other villagers noticed the fire beyond the lake.
He got up, and ran. Ran away from his former life. Ran away from his supposed second chance. That demon lied, that much he was sure of. Ara had promised fame. Malos got none of that. He had promised a second chance at life. So far, it turned out horrible.
He had been decieved.
And so he ran. And didn't look back.

Author's Comments

This is basically the first chapter of Ikane's life before the whole Ikane/Ara/Iccelees RP. It described what happened in his past, why he's a homunculus, and why he forgot everything about himself.

I plan on writing more, but... meh. I'll have to find the time to do so. This isn't my best piece of work; I need a lot of practice. But... it gives me something to do in class. XD

By the way, Malos = Ikane. Syn = Dhaos. (Although whenever the heck I continue that RP with you guys, I want to scrap the name "Dhaos" and use "Syn".)

So, uh... dunno when chapter two will be up, but advice would be nice. ;)

Aaah, it makes more sense...
We've missed Ikane, Danny and me. :c We haven't RPed that story ever since you left. (though part of that may be our obsession with our Gabby/Rilla/Fable RP. xD;; )
I've forgotten how refreshing your writing style is. :3 Can't wait for chapter 2!
Ah, that reminds me. Over the summer, if you wanna continue submitting these stories, if you'd like you can mail them to me and I'll post 'em.
